On Saturday, hundreds of parents, community leaders, politicians, businessmen, civic leaders, and others gathered to bid farewell to the retiring head teacher of Kyamate Secondary School, Mr. Emmanuel Arinaitwe, who had served the school for six years, elevating its performance and enrollment to unprecedented levels.
Emmanuel Arinaitwe, who previously served as a councilor for Bubaare Sub County in Kashari County to the Mbarara District Council from 1998 to 2006, had dedicated 35 years to teaching in government schools before retiring in July this year. He has been succeeded by Francis Mwesigye, the former head teacher of Rweikiniro and Murisa Secondary Schools.
During the farewell ceremony organized by the school, Ntungamo Woman Member of Parliament, Bata Kamateneti, praised Arinaitwe as a dedicated and service-oriented individual whose efforts not only advanced education in Ntungamo District but also positively impacted the community he served.
Municipality Principal Education Officer, Mr. Gordon Nabaasa, commended Arinaitwe for transforming the school both qualitatively and quantitatively, increasing the number of students passing in first grade from 8 to 69, and boosting enrollment from 1,030 to 1,800 during his tenure at the only government-aided secondary school in Ntungamo Municipality.
Arinaitwe attributed the school’s success to the unity among staff, teachers, and parents, urging his successor, Mr. Francis Mwesigye, to continue fostering collaboration among all stakeholders.
Joshua Namanya, representing the teachers, called on the Kyamate community to embrace change and welcome the new head teacher with open arms for a smooth and successful transition.
