Police in Rubirizi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 50-year-old man who allegedly hanged himself for unknown reasons.
The incident occurred in Kirugu Two Village, Kikumbo Parish, Kirugu Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Yowasi Bainomugisha, a 50-year-old resident of Kasinima, Kiboga District.
It is alleged that on August 14, 2024, Bainomugisha traveled from Kiboga to visit his paternal aunt, Kasiringi Njerika. He reportedly complained of severe headaches, and after having supper, he went to bed. The following day, his relatives took him to a native doctor for treatment.
However, during the night, at around 2:00 AM, Bainomugisha allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his aunt’s bedroom using a bedsheet.
Tumusiime stated that the matter was reported to Kirugu Police Station by one Evalisto Muhangi. The body was retrieved and taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
