Students at Kyamakanda Secondary School have been strongly encouraged to embrace humility, discipline, and a Christ-centered life in order to secure a brighter future. This call was made during the school’s annual conference which commenced on Friday, 20th June 2025, drawing hundreds of students into a renewed spiritual commitment.
The event, which attracted enthusiastic participation, was highlighted by inspirational messages from prominent figures including Dr. Edson Matsiko, an Old Boy of the school from Kyatoko, and Minister Patience Mwesigwa Tusingwire, daughter of Emeritus Bishop Enock Kayeeye.
Dr. Matsiko emphasized the importance of vigilance and moral uprightness among students, warning them to be cautious of the distractions and temptations that can derail their future. He urged students to invest in their present with godly values, especially highlighting the need for the female students to guard against immorality, substance abuse, and peer pressure. He assured the students that the Lord would walk with them if they fully committed their lives to Christ.
Minister Patience Mwesigwa echoed similar sentiments, challenging students to remember the sacrifices their parents make to afford their education. She reminded them that success is possible for all who choose to trust in God and live purposefully. Minister Patience also stressed the importance of focusing on academics, personal discipline, and spiritual growth, urging students to avoid distractions like television and peer influence.
The Headmaster, Mr. David Turyamusima Kapiira, expressed his gratitude to God for the success of the day and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also strong Christian values. He emphasized the role of God’s word in shaping prosperous and disciplined individuals.
The school chaplain, Rev. Chris Manigaruhanga, also commended the administration for supporting such spiritual engagements. He celebrated the large number of students who gave their lives to Christ and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their new faith.
The conference ended on a high spiritual note, leaving a lasting impact on the students, many of whom made personal commitments to live purpose-driven and godly lives.
