The Kisoro Scripture Union has pledged to address homosexuality among students.
During a press briefing ahead of a five-day conference, Jimmy Kakuru, Chairperson of the Kisoro Scripture Union, stated that through preaching, youth can be guided away from what he described as the “evil spirit of homosexuality.”
The press briefing was held today at the Union’s office in Kisoro Municipality. The conference is scheduled to run from 22nd to 26th August 2025 at Seseme Girls’ Secondary School in Kisoro Municipality and is expected to attract over 1,000 students from across the district.
Kakuru explained that the conference will not only focus on biblical teachings but will also feature various workshops for children from nursery to secondary school levels. These sessions will cover topics such as avoiding homosexuality, educational empowerment, leadership skills, addressing family neglect, hands-on vocational skills, Bible study, sports and talent development, as well as fostering hope and endurance.
He emphasized the importance of parental support, noting that both religious leaders and parents must collaborate in nurturing the youth generation.
Kakuru further clarified that the Scripture Union is a Christian organization committed to spreading the gospel without discrimination.
