Health officials, in collaboration with the Gatimba Community Police Post, led by Officer in Charge (OC) Kalan Zadok, have issued a warning to chapati vendors, bar owners, and Nyamakyoma operators in Kisoro Municipality who are operating without proper licenses and medical certificates. They have been threatened with closure if they fail to comply with the required regulations.

Acar Moses, the municipal health inspector, stressed that businesses like hotels, bars, chapati vendors, and Nyamakyoma operators must maintain high standards of sanitation and hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases among customers. He warned that poor hygiene practices pose serious health risks, especially to the residents of Kisoro and visitors from neighboring countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.

Moses urged all business operators to comply with municipal health guidelines, warning that failure to meet these standards could lead to the closure of their establishments as early as next month.

OC Kalan Zadok also raised concerns about the increasing number of domestic violence cases, which he believes are hindering community development. He noted that many of the cases reported to the police are influenced by immoral behavior learned by children from their parents, which they later replicate in their own marriages. Zadok called on married couples to support each other and work together to address and prevent domestic violence in their homes.
