The Very Reverend Amatsiko Niwegariho, Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, yesterday urged Ugandans to consistently contribute to the schools they attended as a means of advancing the education of young Ugandans. His remarks were made during a gathering of Bishop Ruhiindi Kebisoni High School’s community and alumni at their second reunion.
Rev. Niwegariho stressed the significance of alumni support in improving academic standards within schools. He criticized the lack of collaboration among alumni, the school’s foundation body, the board of governors, and parents, citing it as a hindrance to the school’s progress. Additionally, he urged current students to prioritize discipline and hard work for future success.
Furthermore, Venerable Niwegariho mentioned the efforts underway by the diocese to rejuvenate diocesan schools, particularly Makobore High School, calling on alumni to support this initiative.
Headteacher Justus Akankwasa commended Bishop Ruhiindi Kebisoni High School’s alumni for their continued support, citing examples such as sponsoring needy students and providing essential equipment like a photocopying machine. He also highlighted challenges such as insufficient computers and the absence of a multipurpose hall.
Musinguzi Justus Magingo, Chairperson of the Bishop Ruhiindi Old Students Association, expressed their commitment to supporting their alma mater, emphasizing the school’s role in shaping their lives and their obligation to give back to the community. He praised the efforts of the 6th North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop in revitalizing Church of Uganda-founded schools, including Makobore High School and Kinyasano Girls’ High School, pledging their support to him.
