Stakeholders in the tourism sector of Kigezi Sub-region have launched the highly anticipated 2024 Miss and Mr. Tourism Kigezi competition, to enhance the region’s visibility and attractiveness through the representation of local ambassadors.
This year marks the 9th edition for the Miss category and the 3rd for the Mr. Category. At a stakeholder’s dinner held at White Horse Inn Kabale, Faith Ainembabazi, the coordinator for this year’s pageantry, unveiled ambitious plans for the upcoming event. She expressed gratitude for the consistent support from all essential stakeholders, attributing past successes to their collaborative efforts.
Ainembabazi emphasized the primary objective of this year’s competition: to select outstanding tourism ambassadors who not only showcase Kigezi’s natural beauty but also embody its rich cultural heritage and values.
Dickson Katana, the Southern Sector Warden for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park under the Uganda Wildlife Authority, urged stakeholders to equip themselves with accurate and compelling information to effectively promote Uganda’s diverse and captivating tourism offerings.
Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of Information Communication Technology and National Guidance, reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure across Uganda. He encouraged stakeholders to prepare for a period of unprecedented growth and development within the tourism sector.
The crowning of the Miss and Mr. Tourism Kigezi is set for July 6, 2024. Prospective contestants can express their interest until May 30, 2024.
