The Rukungiri district vice chairperson of the NRM party, Brose Kibuuka, has challenged people in Rukungiri to prioritise choosing leaders from the NRM party if they are to embrace development in their areas.
Kibuuka said this today during a political rally of Hon. Kebirungi Mary Paula Turyahikayo in Bikurungu town, a rally that also included all flag bearers from both Bikurungu town council and Bwambara sub-county.
Kibuuka said that it is paramount to vote for those who carry the NRM flag, noting that they will support President Museveni in moving the country forward.
Hon. Mary Paula, who also visited Nyabubare parish and Kakoni parish, all in Bwambara, vowed to fight against unemployment, noting that this challenge is compounded by the absence of any government-aided vocational school in Rujumbura. She pledged to work hard to establish one.
She said that a vocational school gives young Ugandans a chance to acquire skills that can enable them to create their own jobs and employ others.
Turyayigurirwayo Jerome, a resident of Rugyera cell in Nyabubare parish, said that Hon. Mary Paula should work to improve roads in Bwambara, especially the Bikurungu-Nyabubare-Rwenshama road, which he said is vital for tourism in Rukungiri.
He also noted the challenge of elephants destroying their crops, urging Hon. Mary Paula to lobby for an electric fence to protect their gardens.
He said they are ready to support her until she wins the election.
Niwagaba Wallen, the LC1 chairperson of Kanshekye 2 in Bikurungu town council, said they have long beseeched authorities to have the Kanshekye bridge constructed, noting that its current state is jeopardizing development, as the movement of people, goods, and services is difficult.
He said they hope Hon. Mary Paula will do whatever it takes to have this bridge completed.
Hon. Mary Paula said that she will work hard to prevent animals from destroying people’s gardens, improve roads, extend electricity and water, among other developments.
The rally was also attended by the District chairperson flag bearer, Katebire Andrewson Charles, who pledged to work with Hon. Mary Paula for the development of Rukungiri district by fighting corruption and ensuring that residents receive services.
