Police in Rubirizi District are investigating a serious road accident that occurred on Monday, April 14, 2025, at around 4:30 PM in Nyamuhuru, located within Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The accident involved a Mercedes-Benz Actros semi-trailer, registration number KCH 823R, which overturned while navigating a sharp corner.
The vehicle was being driven by 37-year-old Kenyan national, Nagak Rarry Otieno.
According to Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver was heading from Ishaka to Kasese when he failed to negotiate a corner at Nyamuhuru, lost control of the vehicle, and overturned.
Tumusiime attributed the cause of the accident to overspeeding.
The injured driver was rushed to Rugazi Health Centre IV for medical treatment, and police say inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
