Police in Kabale District have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be between 27 and 30 years old, found early Monday morning in a trench along Katuna Road in Nyangande Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division of Kabale Municipality.

According to reports, residents stumbled upon the lifeless body at around 7:00 a.m. and promptly alerted officers at Kabale Central Police Station. A team led by the District CID Officer, D/SP Mukama, visited and documented the scene before retrieving the body.

Preliminary observations revealed fresh bruises on the man’s face and neck, suggesting possible foul play. The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

A sniffer dog was introduced at the scene in an attempt to trace the circumstances surrounding the death, but no leads were found.

Police say efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing. Members of the public who may be missing a loved one are urged to visit the hospital mortuary to help in the identification process and facilitate a dignified burial.

Investigations into the matter are still underway.
