A total of 169 members from Kebisoni SACCO were confirmed today as delegates and were encouraged to serve as exemplary figures for the people they represent.
Acting SACCO General Manager, Abias Muhiirwe, mentioned that the delegate selection process began on January 10, 2023, with 10 delegates chosen from Nyamunuka branch. Subsequently, on January 11, 2024, 11 delegates were selected from Rukungiri zones, followed by the selection of 50 delegates from Mabanga zone on January 12, 2024. The process concluded on January 16, 2024, with the selection of 98 delegates from Kebisoni zone.
Muhiirwe stated that the SACCO management, in collaboration with the board and the entire delegate team, will work towards facilitating effective communication between members and SACCO authorities.
Collins Nyangaro, the Western Regional Manager of Uganda Cooperatives Savings and Credit Union (UCSCU), emphasized the crucial role of delegates in fostering communication between SACCO authorities and members. He highlighted that during annual general meetings, decision-making becomes more efficient with a small team of delegates rather than having thousands of members attending.
Nyangaro asserted that delegates play a vital role as messengers, ensuring that members’ views are conveyed to the relevant authorities.
The SACCO’s Board Chairperson, Rev Fr. Emmanuel Safari, provided key statistics, revealing that Kebisoni SACCO has 8,065 members, savings amounting to 3,739,609,732, share capital totaling 2,251,069,666, and a loan portfolio of 9,361,920,261.
Expressing appreciation for the innovation of delegates, John Nayebare Kambodia, a delegate from Mabanga zone, pledged to facilitate proper communication flow between SACCO members and authorities.
