Residents of Nyeibingo Parish, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District, are eagerly seeking updates on the official opening of “Kebisoni Seed Secondary School” for the first term of the 2024 academic year.

They emphasize that the school’s construction, as observed physically, is complete in terms of infrastructure. The Ministry of Education and Sports has deployed three teachers, including the head teacher, deputy head teacher, and one additional teacher, along with some scholastic materials.

Christopher Mujuni, the site supervisor from Kinombe Nyaruzinga Construction Company, responsible for completing the construction, assures that the school is ready to receive students. The remaining task involves furnishing, which he expects to be completed in less than five days.

Akakunda Joan, a Primary Seven leaver in the area, notes that a majority of students are eager to join the school due to its proximity, well-equipped facilities, and attractive infrastructure.

Magret Kanahe, an elderly woman near the school premises, reveals that the school receives a considerable number of parents and students who are eager to witness the readiness for the opening.

Rubagasira Patrick, the Chairperson LC1 of the area, expresses frustration at spending a lot of time counseling parents seeking updates about the official opening, while he himself is not adequately informed.

Frank Mabwa, the Area Sub County Councilor and Vice Chairperson LC3, acknowledges that leaders are under pressure from parents struggling with school fees to open and provide free or affordable education.

Kahanyi Charles, the Chairperson LC3 of Kebisoni Sub County, shares that parental pressure is affecting him personally, and an extraordinary executive committee convened on 2nd January 2024, resolving to petition authorities and stage a strike if they don’t receive confirmation before 26th January 2024.

Kyomukama Geoffrey, the Chairperson LC5 of Rukungiri District, and Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner, affirm that preparations for the official opening will commence after receiving teachers from the Ministry of Education and Sports.
