The police in Kihihi Kanungu are currently investigating a case involving the alleged murder of an individual named Sam, who was approximately 25 years old. Sam was a Mukiga, employed at Kananura Justus’s hotel, and he resided in Bugongo cell in Kihihi town council. He was originally from Kayonza – Butogota.
The primary suspect in this case is Kananura Justus, a local businessman who is a resident of Bugongo cell in Nyakantunguru ward, Kihihi town council, Kanungu district.
According to the available information, on the 28th of October 2023, at around 10:00 AM, an incident occurred. During this time, the Officer in Charge of the Kihihi Police Station, OCAYA Kennedy, was present at the station. Kananura Justus, the suspect, approached OCAYA Kennedy and informed him that a thief who had broken into his hotel had been attacked by a mob and was in critical condition. In response to this, the OCAYA Kennedy and his team, led by Kananura Justus, immediately took action.
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the victim lying unconscious along Barangaine road. Despite efforts to wake him, the victim managed to walk for about 50 meters before collapsing once again. With the assistance of the suspect and the police, he was transported to Kihihi Health Centre IV for initial medical treatment. However, despite initial aid being administered, he tragically passed away before he could be transferred to either Kambuuga or Bwindi hospital.
The crime scene was examined, documented, and the victim’s body was taken to Kihihi mortuary, where a postmortem examination was conducted. Kananura Justus, the owner of the hotel, is currently in custody and is cooperating with the authorities as they continue their investigations.
The police are actively conducting inquiries into this matter to uncover more details and ascertain the circumstances surrounding this alleged murder.
