Residents of Kafunjo Cell in Kafunjo Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri district, were jolted by a distressing discovery as they found the lifeless body of a man floating in the waters of Kafunjo valley.

The deceased has been identified as a 54-year-old fisherman named Katungisa Jackson, who hailed from Kyeshoro Cell, Nyabiteete Parish, within Buyanja Sub County.

The grim sighting of the deceased’s body was initially made by a group of young children who had been sent by Allen Kyoshaba to gather reeds for weaving. After spotting the body, the youngsters hurriedly reported their findings to Kyoshaba, who subsequently contacted Hon. Albert Rwamugaata, the District Councilor representing Buyanja Sub County, and he promptly arrived at the scene.

According to Mrs. Tusingwire Costance, aged 53 and the wife of the deceased, Jackson had left their home in an inebriated state to go fishing and had not returned until this tragic morning when his lifeless body was discovered.

Hon. Albert Rwamugaata alerted the police, who arrived at the scene, retrieved the deceased’s body from the water, and permitted the family to conduct the necessary burial rites.
