On April 23, 2024, Kanungu District local government awarded contracts to two firms, Akbar Engineering Company LTD and M2K General Services Limited, for constructing the Administration block. Eng. Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo, the District Chairperson, expressed appreciation for the groundbreaking, emphasizing the urgent need for a new administration block due to outdated and inadequate facilities. He pointed out the challenges faced, such as structures dating back to 1939, and stressed the necessity for the new block to effectively accommodate all staff.

Workers were instructed to prioritize waste management, maintain proper distancing, and ensure cleanliness during construction. Eng. Kajojo cautioned the contractors against using substandard materials, insisting on quality work at the site.

Representing the RDC, Walugembe Muzapharu, the Diso Kanungu district, underscored the importance of the administration block, commending the efforts of those involved in achieving this milestone.

Awuye Abdallah, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kanungu District, hailed the project as a significant accomplishment, addressing the longstanding issue of office space shortages. He mentioned that the district had allocated funds for the project and stressed the importance of delivering quality work.

Eng. Erick Mutumba, the district Engineer, stated that Akbar Quick Engineering Services would handle material supply at 43,982,000= Shillings, while M2K General Services would manage construction at 36,472,000= Shillings, ensuring adherence to the project timeline. He assured that despite design changes, the outcome would surpass expectations.

Project management responsibilities were delegated, with Madam Gatrude Mutahaka and the District Engineer overseeing quality and monitoring, respectively.

Both contracting companies pledged to deliver high-quality workmanship.
