Sub-county level census supervisors in Kanugu district have undergone training in preparation for the Uganda National Census scheduled for May 10th -20th, 2024.

The training took place at the District Council Hall in Kanungu town council, Kanungu District. Representing the Executive Director and Commissioner of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Onesimus Teophrus stated that the objective of the training is to ensure comprehensive counting, enabling the government to plan and make informed decisions for service delivery.

Onesmus emphasized that the trained supervisors and assistants will further train parish supervisors and enumerators responsible for the actual counting in various Local Council areas. He urged all Ugandan citizens to cooperate to facilitate an accurate count.

Addressing anticipated challenges such as response burdens, privacy concerns, enumeration in remote areas, and cost-effectiveness, the commissioner’s representative advised those involved to collaborate with the police and local council leaders for support.

He highlighted the involvement of police and local council leaders in the training to ensure seamless assistance throughout the census exercise.
