Kabugombe Charles, a 50-year-old resident of Kitojo Cell, Kitojo Parish, Bwongyera Sub County, Ntungamo District, was granted bail on Tuesday.

He had been remanded since March 22, 2024, after being accused of assaulting his brother, Tindyebwa George, on February 16, 2024.

The prosecution claims that on February 16, 2024, Kabugombe Charles forcibly entered his brother Tindyebwa George’s property, where he allegedly destroyed banana and coffee plantations and damaged a house, resulting in a loss exceeding 3 million.

Despite a reconciliation meeting organized by the Ntungamo Central Police Station on March 13, 2024, facilitated by Inspector Mbonigaba Denis, the Detective Assistant Inspector of Police, at the complainant’s residence, Kabugombe Charles refused to participate. Consequently, he was remanded until his release on the current date.

The Grade One Magistrate Court at Ntungamo Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Her Worship Nasuna Shallon, heard the case and granted bail until July 22, 2024, acknowledging his right to defend himself outside of detention.
