Authorities at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital are demanding a police post at the hospital to check on the high level of crime in communities surrounding the health facility.

Their demand follows concerns raised by intern doctors who claim that they have on several occasions been attacked and robbed while going back home from the hospital.

The Head of Interns at the Hospital, Dr. Ochieng Osinde noted that in less than five weeks, four medical Interns had been attacked by their residents and their properties taken.

The Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Director Dr. Filbert Nyeko, has called for increased security enforcement within the hospital’s premises noting that the intention of the people who operate businesses around the hospital is unknown.

He cited an example of the hospital Head of Security, Johnson Musiime, who was on the night of 10th September  2023 attacked by four thugs but escaped unhurt.

In response, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, promised to present the request before the District Security Committee to ensure that a police post is established at the hospital.
