The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, has called for an urgent meeting with all Sub county chiefs and LC3 Chairpersons to assess the progress of government programs and enhance financial accountability in their respective areas.

This decision follows the recent arrest of the Maziba Sub county chief and Accountant for allegedly misappropriating over 25 million shillings, funds designated for road rehabilitation. RDC Nyakahuma expressed deep concern, highlighting instances where Sub county chiefs have sidelined LC3 Chairpersons, making them passive observers rather than active overseers of government programs.

RDC Nyakahuma stressed the crucial role of LC3 Chairpersons in ensuring the success of the NRM government at the grassroots level. He emphasized that their effective performance directly contributes to government objectives, and any disruptions can negatively impact service delivery.

In a meeting held at Kabale District headquarters last Friday, where the Maziba Sub county chief and Accountant were scrutinized, RDC Nyakahuma made it clear that such misconduct would not be tolerated. He promptly directed the District Chief Administrative Officer to convene a meeting with all Sub county chiefs and LC3 Chairpersons in the district, scheduled for this Thursday.

Additionally, RDC Nyakahuma revealed that his office is ready to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all projects managed within the district. The goal is to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of government initiatives.
