Thousands of football fans gathered at Kyabashenyi Primary School playground in Nyamunuka Town Council, Ntungamo District, to witness an exciting Ekiguuturo Rwata Ngoma activation match between Boona FM FC and Kyabashenyi FC.
The event drew a large and diverse crowd, including religious leaders, local officials, and community members from across the area, highlighting the growing popularity of the annual initiative organized by Boona FM.
Reverend Timuzugu Ronald, the Parish Priest of Kyabashenyi Church of Uganda, commended Boona FM management for consistently reaching out to the community and choosing Kyabashenyi as one of their activation venues. He also praised Coach Arthur for spearheading the initiative and mobilizing residents to participate. He urged locals to continue supporting the station, especially as it prepares to celebrate nine years of service on June 11, 2026.
Kyabashenyi FC coach, Byaruhanga Arthur, expressed gratitude to the community for working together to ensure the success of the match. He also appreciated Boona FM for maintaining a close relationship with the people. Arthur emphasized the community’s desire to further collaborate with the station, particularly in efforts to upgrade the local playground to standard levels. He also applauded players for their discipline during the game.
Boona FM Station Manager, Santurina Kakyene Namanya, thanked residents of Kyabashenyi and Nyamunuka Town Council for their continued support and loyalty to the station. He noted that despite various challenges, Boona FM remains committed to celebrating its milestones through community-centered activities such as Ekiguuturo Rwata Ngoma. He encouraged residents to turn up in large numbers for this year’s celebrations and reaffirmed the station’s commitment to supporting local development, including mobilizing efforts to improve the playground.
Meanwhile, Safephu Julia, the Councillor for Kyaruhuga Ward in Nyamunuka Town Council, highlighted ongoing efforts to curb rising theft cases in the area. She revealed that the council has introduced serialized stickers for boda bodas to aid in tracking stolen motorcycles. The stickers, which cost Shs 3,000, will be distributed through boda boda chairpersons across the district. She also applauded Boona FM for its grassroots engagement, noting that its strong connection with ordinary people has earned it widespread support.
The match, which marked the sixth activation under the Ekiguuturo Rwata Ngoma campaign, ended in a 3–1 victory in favor of Boona FM FC, capping off a lively and unifying community event.
