The Kabale Resident district Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma has vowed to block a demonstration by members of the public protesting power supply outrages in Kabale district.

The RDC statement comes after residents of Kabale district were notified of preparations for a peaceful demonstration over power supply outrages.

Speaking to the press   at the district headquarters in Makanga Northern division Kabale municipality, RDC Nyakahuma called off the protest saying that the problem is currently being handled technically.
He revealed that they have held many meetings with UMEME officials who promised that they are working around the clock to have the problem resolved as soon as possible.

He noted that the government of Uganda through the Uganda electricity transmission company Limited is undertaking the construction of a multibillion power sub-station at karukara-rubanda district which will be completed within this year and this will bring to an end power problem in Kabale.

He called upon the public to avoid growing trees near power lines   and harvesting trees that fall on the power lines and damage  resulting into power outages.
