Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered floating in River Rwabakazi, Rugyendera Cell, Rushaki Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
According to reports, passersby spotted the body on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m. and immediately alerted authorities. Officers from Kabale Central Police Station (CPS) responded to the scene, conducted investigations, documented evidence, and later retrieved the body.
The remains were taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have called on members of the public with missing relatives to visit the hospital mortuary for possible identification and to arrange for a decent burial.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
