Territorial Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a male adult identified as Silvano Bikorwomuhangi, whose lifeless body was discovered along a footpath in Bugo Village, Musamba Parish, Rubaya Sub-county.

According to police reports, the incident is believed to have occurred during the night of May 6, 2025, under unclear circumstances. Preliminary findings indicate that earlier that day, the deceased participated in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party elections, where he voted for Turyazayo Wilber, who was contesting against Tumwijukye Henry for the position of LC I Chairperson—a race Wilber eventually won.

Following the elections, Bikorwomuhangi joined other supporters at Musamba Trading Centre for celebratory activities but did not return home. His body was discovered the next morning at around 7:00 a.m. by residents along the path leading to his second wife’s residence. The matter was reported to Rubaya Police Station by Monday, the LC II Chairperson of Masamba Parish.

Police swiftly opened a case file of suspected murder. A team led by the acting District Criminal Investigations Officer (D/CID/O) for Kabale visited, processed, and documented the scene. Statements were obtained from several witnesses, and three individuals have been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.

The deceased’s body was examined and later handed over to relatives for burial.

Police are appealing to members of the public with any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Investigations are still ongoing.
