Police in Kabale District are investigating the murder of a 54-year-old man who was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants in Kibuga Sub County.

The deceased has been identified as Vincent Rwomushana, a resident of Kanyante Village, Kibuga Parish, Kabale District.

According to police, the incident occurred on Christmas night, 25th December 2025, at around 11:00 pm, as Rwomushana was returning home from a drinking spree at Hamuhokye Trading Centre. It is alleged that he was attacked and cut on the head by unknown people, leaving him unconscious and bleeding heavily.

Later that night, a man identified as Mbabazize, together with others who were heading to Hamuhokye Trading Centre, found Rwomushana lying on the road bleeding profusely. They rushed him to Rushoroza Health Centre IV, where he was pronounced dead at about 5:45 am on 26th December 2025.

Mbabazize reported the incident to the LC3 Chairperson of Kibuga Sub County, Vincent Kamugisha, who later informed police at Kibuga Police Station, where a case of murder was officially registered.

Police say the scene of crime was visited, processed, and documented by the Kabale homicide team. Statements from relevant witnesses have been recorded, and a postmortem examination has been conducted.

Police are now appealing to the public to provide any information that may help identify and arrest the suspects responsible for the killing.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
