Political leaders in Kabale District utilized today’s Eid Al-Fitr celebrations to both offer prayers and condemn the growing prevalence of corruption within the nation.

Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, the Kabale District woman member of Parliament, underscored the corrosive impact of corruption on the country’s fabric, stressing the urgent need for a zero-tolerance approach towards it, starting from grassroots levels within families. Atwakiire strongly denounced corruption and highlighted its hindrance to progress. Additionally, she expressed concern over the pervasive sense of hopelessness among Ugandans amid rising violence, suicides, and crime rates, urging Muslims to actively engage in government poverty alleviation efforts to foster community development.

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, the Publicity Secretary of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and also serving as the Nakawa Deputy Resident City Commissioner and the Kabale Municipality National Resistance Movement flag bearer, echoed similar sentiments. He called on all Ugandans to collaborate with state institutions in combating corruption, stressing the importance of unity with their leaders, as leadership stems from collective effort.

During his sermon at Kirigime Main Mosque in Kabale municipality, Imam Mahad Kakooza of the Mbarara Muslim Supreme Council emphasized the necessity for unity and concerted efforts towards development. He urged the youth to prioritize seeking gainful employment over dependency.
