The Office of the District Resident Commissioner in Kabale District has confirmed the presidential campaign rally of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, scheduled for Monday, November 10th, next week.
In an interview with our reporter today at the district headquarters on Makanga Hill in Kabale Municipality, Michael Muramira Kyakashari, the Kabale District Deputy Resident Commissioner, confirmed that the National Unity Platform team had contacted the office regarding their party president’s campaign rally in Kabale on November 10th.
He stated that, as the security team, they are ready to provide the necessary security but urged the organizers and supporters to maintain law and order and follow the set guidelines to avoid any clashes with the security personnel.
Kyakashari also warned against bringing large numbers of supporters from other districts, saying this could disrupt local businesses and public order.
Derick Katebire, the Kabale District National Unity Platform (NUP) chairperson, said that preparations to receive the party president are in high gear and confirmed that the venue has already been secured. He stated that they have booked the Kabale Municipal Stadium, where the campaign rally will be held.
He called on the security team to provide a level playing field for them to address the people and seek their votes, urging both parties to work collaboratively to avoid clashes during the campaign rally.
