KABALE- Kabale District Council on Thursday passed budget estimates worth 43,410,227,000 shillings for the next financial year 2023/2024, with a decrease of 3,178,881,000 shillings compared to 46,589,108,000 shillings for this financial year 2022/2023.
Tabling the budget estimates today before the council at Kabale district Rukiiko hall, the Kabale District Vice Chairperson, Miria Akankwasa Tugume who represented the district Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija said that the district budget 2023/2024, has decreased by 6.8 percent to this financial year.
She attributed the budget cuts to the non-allocation of indicative planning figures for the production of nonwage, community sector conditional grants, and transitional development funds.
She however said that the budget has increased by 17.2 percent compared to the time of laying the budget on 30th of March 2023, when they laid 37,054,541,000 shillings, due to the provision of additional indicative planning figures of over 6 billion shillings.
Akankwasa said that 41.5 billion shillings will be sourced from central government transfers, 1 billion shillings sourced from donors, and 862,557,000 shillings raised from locally raised revenues.
She added that the next financial year’s budget will be implemented under the theme “Enhancing effective service delivery with emphasis on Quality Education, Health, Infrastructure, and Agriculture for community transformation”.
