Kabale District leaders yesterday commissioned an extension of Nkamira Gravity flow scheme to Kasheregyenyi HCIII and a public 2-stance pit latrine at Mukareere Rural Growth Centre, all in Kamuganguzi sub-county, with the call on the users of the respective projects to use them equitably.
The extension of Nkamira gravity flow, which was done by DACOS construction Limited at a tune of 90million shillings, while the pit
latrine was constructed by NDAGAJOSE builders at 14 million shillings.
The project to extend Nkamira Gravity water scheme also included installing two 24,000 water harvesting tanks, to help in harvesting
rainwater to supplement the gravity water.
The Kabale District Water officer, Patience Aharinta, who was the supervisor of the two projects commended the contractors for finishing the projects on time.
She said that the funds to construct the gravity flow scheme extension were got from the Ministry of Health, while the funds for the toilets were under the DWSCG.
The Kabale District Chief Administrative officer, Edmond Ntimba, promised that the district will now focus on other priority areas,
connecting electricity to the health centre, construction of the outpatient department-OPD and fencing the health centre in order to
improve on service delivery.
While commissioning the projects, the Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, commended the NRM government for putting an enabling environment for such projects to be expended to the people.
He also implored leaders of lower local governments, to always embrace such government programs and projects in order to ensure that they are properly supervised and utilized.
