In a display of compassion and solidarity, Kabale Diocese, through Rubanda Deanery, has provided essential food supplies to hospitals and prison facilities in Rubanda District. The generous initiative aimed to support patients, inmates, and healthcare workers, benefiting Muko Health Center IV, Rubanda Government Prisons, and Rubanda Primary Health Care.

The relief package included posho, rice, soap, millet flour, and salt. The distribution began with a mass at Muko Health Center IV, followed by the delivery of food items to inpatients, particularly in the maternity ward. The team then moved on to Rubanda Government Prisons and concluded the exercise at Rubanda Primary Health Care.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance, with Namirembe Juliet, Assistant in Charge of Muko Health Center IV, and Sister Eustinah Twebembere, Facility Administrator for Rubanda Primary Health Care, praising Kabale Diocese for its generosity. They highlighted the significance of the donation on International Women’s Day, noting that many patients and caregivers had no means of cooking.

Rev. Fr. Ireneus Tibemanya, Dean of Rubanda Deanery and Parish Priest of Kishanje Catholic Parish, explained that Kabale Diocese had tasked Rubanda Deanery with reaching out to hospitals and prisons in need. He also announced that the Diocese plans to open the doors of Rubanda Church in May and will organize a Deanery pilgrimage in August as part of the Jubilee Year celebrations.

Rev. Fr. Fidel Ndagijimana, the Pastoral Coordinator for Kabale Diocese, revealed that plans are underway to expand the food relief initiative to other deaneries. He emphasized that the program aligns with the Church’s mission to carry out Corporal Works of Mercy during the Jubilee Year 2025 and urged Christians to continue helping those in need, as taught in Matthew 25:31-45.

The food relief initiative has been widely praised for its positive impact, providing much-needed support to vulnerable communities in Rubanda District.
