The Kabale Grade I Magistrate’s Court has set August 29th, 2025 as the date to deliver its judgment in a case where former Rubabo County Member of Parliament, Mary Paula Turyahikayo, sued her former political assistant over obtaining money by false pretenses.

The accused, Angello Twinomuhangi Bagorogoza, a resident of Rwamukundi Cell in Kabale Municipality, is charged with one count of theft involving UGX 440 million belonging to Turyahikayo and her husband, Eng. Godfrey Rwihunga Turyahikayo.

According to prosecution, led by Kabale Senior State Attorney Julie Najjunja, between October 2020 and February 2021, at Centenary Bank Kabale Branch, the accused received the money which was meant for the purchase of land located at Rwakaraba, Plot 35, Block 18.

Court was initially scheduled to deliver its judgment on Wednesday. However, the accused and his legal team were absent. This prompted Trial Magistrate Her Worship Milly Chandiru to issue a warrant of arrest.

While court was still in session, Counsel Abraham appeared, holding brief for Twinomuhangi’s lawyer, Patience Nasiima. He informed court that the accused had been involved in an accident on Monday, resulting in a fractured arm, which prevented him from attending.

Counsel Abraham presented medical documents from Medicus Medical Center to support the claim and requested court to grant more time and vacate the arrest warrant.

In response, Magistrate Chandiru vacated the warrant of arrest and adjourned the matter to August 29th, 2025, when judgment will be delivered.
