Police in Bushenyi District are investigating a serious accident that has left two people with significant injuries.
The incident occurred on the Bushenyi-Kasese road when a silver Toyota Premio with registration number UAP 842D collided with a stationary Mitsubishi Fuso water bowser, registered as UAS 637J. Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante, a journalist and owner of MK Newslink, along with his wife, were severely injured in the crash.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the accident. The victims, the driver of the Toyota Premio and a female passenger were rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
According to Tumusiime, the accident took place on August 13, 2024, around 5:00 PM.
The driver of the Toyota Premio was traveling from Bushenyi towards Ishaka when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the parked water bowser, which was located off the road where repairs were underway.
Tumusiime attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving by the driver of the Toyota Premio.
