The Old Girls of Hornby High School Junior and Hornby Girls High School have been called upon to love one another and continue supporting their former schools to ensure they remain strong pillars of academic excellence and character building.

The appeal was made by the former Mothers Union President, Chris Bagamuhunda, wife to Emeritus Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda of the Diocese of Kigezi, during a breakfast prayer meeting for alumni of both schools. The prayers were held at the Multipurpose Hall of Bishop Barham University College in Kabale Municipality’s Northern Division.

She commended the Old Girls for organizing the fellowship and encouraged them to keep unity at the center of their alumni activities. She stressed that love, togetherness, and sustained support would help the institutions maintain their long-standing legacy.

She also highlighted the importance of alumni associations in mentoring current students, supporting infrastructure development, and promoting the values instilled by the schools.

While preaching, Charity Kivengere, daughter of the late Bishop Festo Kivengere, urged the alumni to embrace peace and love if they want God to bless them abundantly and make them successful.

The Head Teacher of Hornby High School, George Aturebire Tumusiime, appreciated the alumni for organizing the special prayers. He revealed that although the school had suffered low enrollment in the past, the numbers have now grown to over 400 students.

Aturebire, however, noted that the school is struggling with classroom space, forcing some students to attend lessons from the school canteen.

The breakfast prayers brought together former students from different generations, providing an opportunity to reconnect, strengthen networks, and explore ways of contributing to the growth and development of their alma mater.
