MOLLY MUGABIRWE
Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, an aspirant for the Rukungiri District Woman MP seat, has urged the people of Ntungamo District to remain focused and elect leaders who prioritize genuine development in their communities.
She made the remarks while addressing Christians at Kachwambiro Church of Uganda, South Ankole Diocese, during a thanksgiving service for Mr. Byamukama John Johns, also known as John Johns Marura Riteekama, a dedicated staff member at 91.8 Boona FM.
Hon. Turyahikayo decried the prevalence of incompetent leaders who enter politics with selfish motives, noting that such leaders jeopardize national development. She cautioned the public against being swayed by material enticements such as money, gifts, and other freebies, and instead encouraged them to vote for visionary and service-driven individuals.
As the Director of Boona FM, Hon. Paula commended John Johns for being an obedient and dependable employee who aligns well with the expectations of his superiors.
During the same function, John Johns expressed gratitude to God for various milestones, including his 59th birthday, and for the privilege of hosting members of the Voice of Abroad Development Association and the Team No Sleep Tihwerane Association. He emphasized the significance of the road of life that God has granted him, attributing his thanksgiving to this lifelong journey.
In his sermon, the Archdeacon of Itojo Archdeaconry, Ven. Ronald Kakye, called upon Christians to actively support their church leaders and participate in ongoing church development initiatives. He criticized those who distance themselves from church responsibilities, reminding them of their spiritual and communal duty to support God’s work.
