Minister for Security who doubles as the Rujumbura county MP Hon. Major General Jim Muhwezi Katuguugu has rallied parents to always support the schools helping in the education of their children.

He said this today in a thanksgiving service aimed at raising funds to construct classrooms and expand the computer lab at Bishop’s High School Kyabugashe in Nyakagyeme sub-county Rukungiri district.

Minister Muhwezi said that it would be the role of the government to do infrastructure improvements and renovation but owing to inadequate funds, parents should jointly work hard to put infrastructure at the required level.

He spoke against the habit of head teachers chasing students for building funds noting that it is not accepted by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

He therefore vowed to support the project with cement worth 30M.
According to Alvas Arinaitwe the school head teacher, the school has an enrollment of 923 students yet classrooms cannot accommodate the number, a reason that prompted them to seek support to solve overcrowding challenges.

Alvas said that they also need to renovate existing buildings because when it rains they struggle for classes to teach from.

During his sermon, the former North Bishop Right Rev. Patrick Tugumetusiingwiire hailed Bishops High School Kyabugashe for modeling thousands of people who are profoundly changing Uganda.

He added that the church pioneered education in Uganda thereby challenging Christians to always support schools most preferably church-founded schools which he said would foster development.
