His Worship Andrew Kabombo, the Chief Magistrate of Mbarara Court, has scheduled the hearing for the murder case of Mbabazi Kelleti for 27th August 2024. The hearing was set on Tuesday, 30th July 2024.

Mbabazi Kelleti, a 25-year-old resident of Kanyanku Cell, Kitimba Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, and a student at Bishop Stuart University, was found dead on 1st March 2024. His body was discovered in the compound of the Bursar of Metropolitan University in Biharwe North, Mbarara City.

In connection with the incident, several individuals have been arrested: Gloria Mwesigye, the Bursar of Metropolitan University; Proscovia Nalyeyiso, also known as Hajjati, her neighbor; Steven Owakukiroru, a lecturer at Metropolitan University; and Ronald Tumwesigye, a casual laborer at the university.

On the day of his death, Mbabazi Kelleti had left Bishop Stuart University in Kakooba South Division with fellow student Jaberi Amwine for reasons unknown and proceeded to Biharwe North Division.

The accused appeared in court before His Worship Andrew Kabombo, who postponed the hearing to 27th August 2024 at the request of State Attorney Gerald Oundo, pending further investigations.

Deus Rwankandagizi, the father of the deceased, has expressed mistrust in the investigation, noting that Jaberi Amwine, who might be a prime suspect, was not arrested along with the others.

Asaph Mwesigye and Godfrey Asiimwe, the brothers of the deceased, have called for a swift resolution of the case to ensure justice. They criticized the court for not presenting forensic phone investigations that could show communications between the deceased and the accused.
