Internal affairs minister Rtd Maj Gen Saverino Kahinda Otafiire has rallied residents of Rukungiri to support the ruling National resistance movement Party for ushering in peace which has helped Ugandans to do business without interruption.
He was yesterday officiating at the Kigezi boona motor rally super-special stage that was held at Rukungiri main stadium.
He thanked Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo for the good development initiatives during her tenure which people are still benefitting from.
He noted that the initiatives that include Boona fm which is doing great work in Western Uganda through informing and educating people on Government programs.
Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo narrated that Boona fm brought change to Rukungiri in terms of information dissemination and services were also brought near to people
She enumerated some of the services as talent and skills promotion using events like the motor rally
She assured the people of Rukungiri and Rubabo in particular that she will continue supporting all activities aimed at the development of the area whether she is in parliament or not.
She added that as part of support to the health sector in Rukungiri, part of the proceeds from yesterday’s event will be used to construct a waiting Shed at Rukungiri health center 4 Rwamahwa.
Hon Michael Byarugaba the Rukungiri district secretary for production on behalf of Hon Elisa Rutahigwa thanked boona fm led by the directors and management for the efforts towards the development of Rukungiri municipality and Rukungiri at large. He contributed 500000 towards construction of the waiting area at Rukungiri health center 4 Rwamahwa.
