Esther Tushemereirwe Kiruhura, one of the ten individuals reportedly killed by ADF rebels on Tuesday in Kyitehurizi village, Kyabandara parish, Kamwenge sub-county, Kamwenge District, was laid to rest today in Rukiga District. The somber ceremony took place at Kamusiza trading Centre, Nyakashebeya parish, Kashambya Sub County in Rukiga District, where friends and family gathered to bid their final farewell.
The funeral service was presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, represented by Diocesan Secretary Rev Can Milton Nkurunungi. Bishop Akanjuna, in his address, expressed grave concern about the increasing incidents of terror attacks, posing a threat to the lives of Ugandans, especially with the approaching festivities. He extended heartfelt condolences to the mourning families and urged the community, particularly those near the borders, to remain vigilant, prioritize their safety, and return home early.
Bishop Akanjuna called upon individuals with malicious intentions to take the Christmas season as an opportunity for repentance and to turn back to God. He also underscored the importance of security agencies staying vigilant and prepared for potential terror threats.
