Rev. Fr. Narcisio Begumisa celebrated his Sacerdotal Golden Jubilee at Our Lady of Africa Rwengiri Parish in Bugangari Sub-County, Rukungiri District.

50 years ago, on December 12, 1974, he was ordained a priest and has since served in various parishes under Kabale Diocese in different capacities.

Fr. Begumisa continues to serve, especially by celebrating Masses at Rwengiri Parish, where he has faithfully ministered for the past 12 years. Reflecting on his 50 years of priesthood, Fr. Begumisa expressed deep gratitude and praise for God Almighty.

“The Lord has been gracious and merciful to me, showering me with countless blessings, wisdom, and guidance. This has given me the zeal and passion to serve God and His people faithfully,” he said.

During the celebration, Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Tumwijukye, the Rwengiri Parish Priest, commended Fr. Begumisa for his spirit of generosity, care for others, and unwavering hard work in fulfilling his priestly duties.

The Mass was led by Rev. Fr. Placid Mugumya, Secretary to the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, and was graced by Hon. Jim Muhwezi, the Minister of Security, who served as the guest of honor. Hon. Muhwezi praised Fr. Begumisa for his steadfast leadership of God’s flock and his contribution to their spiritual and material prosperity. To honor Fr. Begumisa’s 50 years of service, he congratulated him with a donation of 5 million Ugandan shillings.

Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, former Rubabo County MP and the Rukungiri District Woman MP hopeful, also paid tribute to Fr. Begumisa’s dedication to the Church and bold leadership throughout his 50 years of priesthood. She praised his achievements, noting that records indicate he baptized over 2,000 Christians during his 12 years of ministry at Rwengiri Parish.

Rev. Fr. Narcisio Begumisa, a native of Kisizi in Nyarushanje Sub-County, Rukungiri District, has served in various parishes within Kabale Diocese, including Nyakibale, Omurubanda, Rushoroza, Buhaara, Kakore, Makiro, Kambuga, Rwamagaya, Rutooma, and Rwamagaya Parish.

The celebration was a fitting tribute to Fr. Begumisa’s unwavering commitment and remarkable journey of faith and service.
