Fr. Henry Barekye, the Assistant Parish Priest at Christ the King Catholic Parish in Kabale Diocese, has urged students to set clear goals in their studies to succeed.
Speaking during a Mass held this morning for students at Boona School of Journalism and Vocational Studies, which marked the opening of the semester and prayed for its activities, Fr. Barekye emphasized that many students attend school without a clear sense of mission.
He condemned behaviors that hinder students’ futures, such as premarital sex, hypocrisy, and disobedience to teachers, and encouraged the students at BOSJO to live prayerful lives to excel in their studies and become responsible Christians and Ugandans.
Mr. Maanige Wenceslas, the Director of Boona School of Journalism and Vocational Studies, reiterated that the school places a high priority on discipline for both students and lecturers. He added that the school promotes discipline through the parental care and love they provide to their students.
Maanige also praised the Christ the King Catholic Parish authorities for their dedication to spreading the word of God and reaching out to schools, noting that their teachings greatly contribute to disciplining learners.
Diane Ampaire, the Principal of Boona School of Journalism and Vocational Studies, stated that it is customary for the school to open each semester with a Mass, emphasizing the school’s faith-based orientation.
She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to maintaining student discipline and noted that the school has recently expanded its offerings to include vocational studies. In addition to journalism, they now provide training in tailoring, salon and hairdressing, catering and hotel management, bakery, and more.
