Ms. Foska Twebaze Baryomunsi, the wife of ICT and National Guidance Minister Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, has rallied support for Hon. Mary Paula Kebirungi Turyahikayo in her bid to become the Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament.

Speaking at the funeral mass of the late Pio Kataratambi at Nyakibale Catholic Parish in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Ms. Foska praised Hon. Mary Paula’s extensive experience, strong work ethic, and influential connections within government. She appealed to the people of Rukungiri to vote for the former Rubabo County MP, citing her ability to deliver services due to her collaborative relationship with Minister Baryomunsi and other leaders.

“Hon. Paula has what it takes. She has worked tirelessly, and her connections are critical in bringing development to Rukungiri,” Ms. Foska emphasized.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the burial ceremony , Hon. Mary Paula Kebirungi Turyahikayo expressed gratitude for the support and vowed to extend the initiatives she started in Rubabo to the entire district, promising inclusive service delivery and progress.

Canon Sabiiti Mahirane, former head of laity in the North Kigezi Diocese, eulogized the deceased as a hardworking, God-fearing man who prioritized education. He urged the family to uphold his legacy by embracing unity and supporting the widow.

Lt. Col. Benon Byakurama from the Uganda Air Force, while representing Major Beatrice Nuwagaba—a daughter to the deceased—commended the late Pio Kataratambi for supporting his daughter’s choice to join the armed forces, a path many parents resist. He praised Major Nuwagaba’s discipline and dedication to national service.

George Birungi, the late Pio Kataratambi’s eldest son, described his father as a role model who stood for peace, love, and service. He hailed him as a dedicated teacher, catechist, and local leader.

The late Pio Kataratambi is survived by a widow, five children, 25 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He succumbed to prostate cancer.
