The territorial police of Kisoro have arrested five suspects allegedly for illegal possession of government stores.
These were found with firearms, several ammunitions, military fatigue, a GPS machine, and a binocular.
The suspects are 247119 private Mbazira Trovice attached to the Joint Anti-Terrorism task force police headquarters, Mugisha Bosco, Ntaate John, Sekiranda, and Muheki Elias.
It’s alleged that on Tuesday at around 10:30 pm, at Kisoro CPS information was received by deputy sergeant Warugaba Lawrence from Wanainchi that there was a vehicle parked along Busamba Road in Kisoro municipality for a long time.
Police led by Warugaba Lawrence, proceeded to the scene and found a motor vehicle registration number UAQ 236M Noah silver in color parked along Busamba Road with about six occupants, four were arrested and two others took off.
They were transferred to Kisoro CPS and on the search they were found with three magazines loaded with 90 rounds of ammunition, a pair of UPDF uniforms, a GPS machine, a binocular, and a screwdriver among others.
After about 30 minutes, Mbazira Trovice reported himself at the station claiming ownership of the motor vehicle and some properties therein, alleging that he had given it to his friend who is a driver at Cyanika whose names are yet to be established.
He added that, his friend had requested to go somewhere and that for him he had booked a room at Home lodging at Kivenfere Road Kisoro Municipality where an SMG rifle no. UPDF XK 576754 loaded with 30 rounds was recovered as well.
Inquiries are underway to establish their motive and after which a way forward will be determined.
