Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances under which a school dormitory and properties worth millions were destroyed by fire over the weekend.

Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson confirmed the incident that happened on Sunday at around 8:00 PM at Jane Foundation Primary School, Omukacence Cell, Rwentuha Ward, Rwentuha Town Council, Bushenyi District.

He said a team of fire brigade personnel from the Greater Bushenyi Region was dispatched to manage the fire.  According to the team, no death or injury was registered.

It was established that before the fire outbreak, there were frequent power outages which could be the possible cause.

When contacted, Frankson Ayorekire Muhumuza the school director confirmed the incident and revealed that no injuries were registered.

He added that 36 primary seven pupils were affected and arrangements are being made to secure another accommodation for them.
