Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating a fire incident that resulted in injuries to two individuals. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the occurrence and identified the victims as Evas Mabira, 38, and her daughter Sharon Naijuka, 04.
Reportedly, the fire erupted around 18:00 at the business premises of Joram Ainebyoona, situated at Akasusano trading center in Katunga Parish, Kakanju sub-county, Bushenyi District. Tumusiime explained that local residents promptly alerted officers at Akashanda police post, who swiftly responded to the scene. In collaboration with the residents, they successfully rescued Mabira and her daughter, both of whom were trapped inside the house during the fire. Fortunately, the victims sustained only minor burns on their bodies.
Police investigation revealed that Ainebyoona was involved in dealing with highly flammable substances such as Petro and local brewed alcohol. As a precaution, the victims were evacuated to Kampala International Teaching Hospital in Ishaka for medical attention.
