Members of the Forum for Democratic Change Party (FDC) in Rukungiri have decided to undergo a rebranding process, relocating their national offices to Katonga.
This decision was reached on Friday, March 29, 2024, during the Annual District Conference held at the Okapi Hotel in the Western Division of Rukungiri Municipality. The conference also served as a consultative meeting to discuss the rebranding initiative.
Honorable Mugume Rolland, representing the Western Region at the National Council, urged members to embrace the rebranding effort and relocate the national offices to Katonga. He cited advice from Party Founder Dr. Kiiza Besigye, who recommended the move due to security concerns at Najjanankumbi.
Honorable Rolland also emphasized the need for discipline and resilience among members to revitalize and strengthen the FDC for upcoming elections. He assured members that disputes among potential candidates, such as Ingrid Turinawe, Mugume Rolland Kaginda, and Wallen Tumwine, would be resolved amicably.
Honorable Namanya Naboth, Member of Parliament for Rubabo County, encouraged voluntary support and cooperation with other parties to expand the FDC’s reach.
Former Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Bamukwstsa Betty Muzanira, urged people to prioritize independent living over seeking free benefits and to elect suitable leaders.
Aloysius Mugarura, the newly elected FDC Chairperson for Rukungiri District, emphasized that while rebranding would occur, it wouldn’t alter the party’s operations but rather enhance its services.
Innocent Rubarondesa, the FDC District Secretary for Mobilization, Information, and Publicity, reiterated that the rebranding effort aimed to enhance confidentiality and urged members to strengthen grassroots mobilization for robust support.
Preparations are underway for a rally scheduled for April 5, 2024, where Party founder Dr. Kiiza Besigye will be hosted in Rukungiri District.
