As the world ushers in the New Year, Reverend Father Henry Barekye, the assistant parish priest at Christ the King Church, Rukungiri Municipality, has urged Christians to uphold the spirit of helping one another and to embrace peace, love, unity, and perseverance in 2025.

He made these remarks today while preaching during Mass at Christ the King Church, Rukungiri Municipality.

Father Barekye called on Christians to foster the spirit of helping one another, noting that some neighbors and relatives no longer support each other. He emphasized the need to follow the example of the Lord. Despite facing challenges and difficulties, Christians should always be ready to assist one another.

He added that as they begin the New Year, Christians must work together as brothers and sisters, trust one another, avoid vengeance, and embrace the spirit of God to strive for peace and avoid division.

Father Barekye urged the congregation to pray through the intercession of Mother Mary as the year begins with her feast. He explained that prayers offered through the Blessed Mother to her Son are powerful and can bring blessings.

During the same Mass, four children were baptized and welcomed into the family of God.
