The LCIII Chairperson of Buyanja Sub County, Agaba Emmy Rubondo, has called for urgent action to prevent the escalation of domestic violence in 2025.
In an interview with our reporter as the new year approaches, Rubondo highlighted several causes of domestic violence, including poverty, alcoholism, greed for property, and witchcraft. He noted that in many cases, couples have been reconciled, while others have been referred to court.
Rubondo pledged to strengthen community policing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of domestic violence and the legal consequences associated with it.
He emphasized that both religious and political leaders must play a key role in amplifying the fight against domestic violence in 2025, as it continues to destroy families.
Additionally, Rubondo suggested that women need more support to establish income-generating activities that will help them care for their children and reduce conflicts. He stressed the importance of scaling up projects aimed at empowering women and ensuring their active participation.
As we enter the new year, Rubondo urged women, men activists, and leaders to extend the fight against domestic violence beyond homes and villages, where most cases are reported.
