Christians have been urged to be cautious about their friendships, as many so-called friends may be deceptive and lead them into negative influences.
This message was delivered by Father Conrad Atuhaire, the parish priest of Nyakibale Catholic Parish in Rukungiri District, during a mass.
Father Atuhaire warned that some individuals who claim to be friends are merely pretenders with hidden agendas, often influencing others negatively by introducing them to bad habits such as drinking alcohol, smoking, and stealing, among others.
He advised Christians to carefully choose their friends if they want to succeed in life.
Additionally, Father Atuhaire urged the youth, especially students, to focus on their education and avoid distractions such as romantic relationships and sexual activities, which do not contribute to a bright future but rather lead to failure when prioritized over studies.
He emphasized that many of these mistakes among the youth result from negative peer influence. He, therefore, encouraged young people to filter their friendships, distance themselves from bad influences, and surround themselves with a few genuine friends who will help them achieve success in life.
