A tragic road accident occurred on January 22, 2025, at around 10:00 AM along the Kabale-Mbarara Road, resulting in the death of a two-month-old child.

The incident took place at Kabaraga, where a Toyota Hiace minibus (Reg. No. UBK 650N) overturned after losing control.

The vehicle, which typically operates on the Kasese-Kabale route, was heading towards Kabale from Mbarara when the driver reportedly lost control. The accident left seven passengers injured, including Katusiime Saturina (20), Nabataki Gadi (43), Biira Alice (47), Komugabe Rose (49), Kyarisima Prudence (27), Ayebezibwe Precious (11), and Turyamutunga (minor).

The deceased, Turyamureeba Mikiel, a two-month-old male infant, was confirmed dead at the scene. Emergency response teams, led by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson, rushed the injured victims to Kabale Referral Hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased was transported to the hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the vehicle was towed to Kabale Central Police Station (CPS) for further inspection.

Police are working diligently to determine the factors that led to the tragic accident.
