Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances of a fatal accident that resulted in one death and left another person in critical condition.
The accident occurred on May 23, 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM at Kihangyire Trading Centre in Nyakabirizi Division, within the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Banarbus Matsiko, 22, a resident of Mazinga Cell, Mazinga Ward, Nyakabirizi Division, Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality.
The accident involved a collision between two motorcycles. Matsiko was riding a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number UFC 455Q, while the other motorcycle, a red Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFY 998S, was coming from the opposite direction. It is alleged that the rider of UFY 998S, who was carrying a passenger, crossed over from his lane and collided with Matsiko’s motorcycle.
Both victims were rushed to Munyamugisha Medical Centre in Kihangyire Trading Centre. Matsiko died upon arrival, and the rider of UFY 998S was referred to Bushenyi Medical Centre for further treatment.
