Tragedy struck Kabaraga village in Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district, on Thursday as a fatal motor accident claimed the lives of three individuals and left one person critically injured.

The incident, which occurred around 10:45hrs, involved a white Fuso Fighter bearing registration number UBH453L, driven by Nyanzi Hassan, a 40-year-old resident of Nansana municipality, Wakiso district.

According to initial reports from the scene, the vehicle was en route from Kampala to Kisoro when it experienced a mechanical malfunction near Kabaraga village. As Hassan attempted to navigate the issue, he lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and striking three pedestrians before overturning.

Tragically, the collision resulted in the immediate deaths of Nyanzi Hassan, the driver, Ngabirano Cate, a 50-year-old pedestrian from Kabaraga village, and Kabareba Deusi, a 73-year-old resident of the same area.

The sole survivor of the accident, identified as Paulina Safari, a 49-year-old from Kabalaga village in Kyanamira sub-county, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Kabale Regional Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, with Sp Betubiza Fabian leading the investigation, supported by Asp Mucunguzi, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Kabale, and their team. The bodies of the deceased and the injured victim were promptly transported to Kabale Regional Hospital, while the vehicle involved was towed to CPS Kabale pending further investigation and inspection.
